my fire belled newt has been looking looking like a frog while it croaks.its throught is puffing out.whats go;n on?

Newts have a few different modes of getting oxygen into their body. They can absorb it directly through the skin, they can breathe it into their lungs, or they can do this 'half breath' where they move air over their buccal membranes. The puffs of air are the buccal respiration and are completely normal. If you watch, they'll usually do 5-10 little puffs, and then one big one.

Very nice... Although next time I'd suggest quarantining it for at least 30 days in case it has any diseases or anything. You wouldn't want to pass them on to your healthy newt.
