New Carpet " Condo "

got2strum May 30, 2005 07:19 PM

I'm going to add some pipes for climbing that I can lean in and remove for cleaning. I also hoped I could get some help, I think someone on here said they used some type of " sphagnum mulch or soil or something" for substrate and thought it looked nice. It would be great if you could let me know how it works for you. Thanks, Bill

Nice cages!!! As for the substrate, is it possible they could have been referring to coco fiber (Bed a Beast, etc.)? I use that in my BRB's cage, and she really seems to enjoy it. It can make spotting feces a little difficult due to its darker color, but if you check the cage thoroughly, it's not much of a problem. It also holds humidity very well.

Anyway, hope that helps! Again, great cages!!

coco fiber. I could be wrong though. I will have to check out the coco fiber. Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to add more natural hides as well. Thanks again, Bill

I think you are looking for spaghnum moss. (I have spelling issues- check the spelling on that)

I have used it in a variety of situations. Not very cheap, not very easy to spot clean (depending on how long the strands / clumps are). BUT - it looks killer. I get mine at homedepot. I use it for egg laying boxes and moist hide boxes now.

Thanks, that sounds right. I'll check it out.
