Does Rodent Pro use wild rabbits?

Rottenweiler9 May 30, 2005 08:03 PM

I posted this in the retic forum. I ordered rabbits from them and I got all white ones except one brown one that looks like the kind that run around here, just wondering, I know some people feed there snakes these, I just choose not to because of disease.

Thanks

Jeff

I suppose it would be possible, but I highly doubt it, as they're a fairly big company and it is illegal to sell wild game in most states. Also, there is a type of domestic rabbit that apart from adult size(it gets about a third bigger) looks a lot lke a wild cottontail. I'm not sure if it's a pure breed or a mix.
If you're nervous about using it, feed that one last, save it till you need it, and try to figure out whether it's a wild breed or not.
Also, it might be legal in their state(I think it's Indiana) to sell captive bred rabbits of native breeds.
Hope this helps, like I said I'm not sure.

I really doubt they would do that. Rabbits are easier to raise than they are to catch and kill anyways. I have mini rexes that I raise and some look like the wild rabbits you see around here too. I don't think they would have any reaosn to use wild rabbits anyways, because thye should know people owuld complain. I know I would.
