Nice pictures. I made a dock for my painted out of one of those rubber coated wire closet organizer baskets. It's inverted and only has 3 sides so it's totally open underneath. There's a piece of reptile carpet on top to provide a solid surface and a huge piece of cork over that to give it that natural look.
