Nighttime Temperatures

kapeed May 31, 2005 02:06 AM

I was wondering what recommended range of nighttime temp. is for bearded dragons? It's funny, becuase all these supposed "Expert" books go on at length about optimal basking sites and all sorts of stuff for daytime temperatures, and then COMPLETELY leave out any discussion of night. How cold can it get and still be ok? I am asking becuase the house is being kept cooler with the AC on. I don't want my guy to get too cold.

I believe they can get down to 60-65 at night w/o problems from what I can find in writing. As for truthfully, I would think it wouldn't HARM them if it went down below that as they are from the desert and night time temps in a desert can get pretty low. They might go into brumation or the like at the lower temps, but I'm guessing that if your elec. went off in the winter for a few days, all would be well.

65-70F at night is fine, though I would try and keep it above 65F as it could trigger brumation if it gets colder at night.
