Question about temperature...

lejohn_james_23 May 31, 2005 07:37 AM

Is it okay if the surface temperature in my tank is between 90-95 on the warm side and 75-80 on the cool side? Also, my room get very warm in the summer time and I don't think I will be able to have a warm end and cool end on hot days... is that going to be okay?

I keep mine at room temp with a light on one side and an underpad on the other, (room temp in the middle) and they thrive wonderfully. As long as they have the options, (and places to hide) in all temperature zones, they are going to do great IMO.

Granted I have a 60 gallon tank so there is a big space between each "area". The only area I know for SURE is 82 degrees is where I have my eggs incubating and thats my females favourite spot to slumber.. she likes it warmer when shes gravid, when shes not you find her far away from any heat.

I just reread about your room being warm, if its above 80 I would just turn off any heat sources and keep the tank out of direct sunlight.

okay, I have a 20 gallon long with a under tank heater that is making it very warm on the one side, but the other 2/3 or so of the tank is room temp... well I guess I will have to wait and see when I get my gecko(s) to see if it is too warm for them.

Thanks, John
