i used aluminium window screen frame for mine. you could do wood, but you would have to seal it, it just seams easier to use the aluminium frame.
as for the fiberglass screen, do you plan on having crickets in there? if so, they will chew through it in no time. if you are just going to feed the rhacs MRP then fiberglass will be fine (its easier to work with than aluminium)
i think you could incorporate a removable bottom tub design into the aliminium frame type, but how much waste do rhacodactylus put out? not much. the substrate will not need to be changed as often as other species either. i used a scrap piece of sintra for my bottom. i use paper towels as substrate (this substrate does need to be changed very often, but it is much easier than changing moss or coco husk and a tub-bottom would not benifit me) and every now and then i take the cage outside and just hose it out.
if you do not know how to to put together window screens just do a search for diy window screen or window screen replacements etc.. al the cage is is window screens screwed together in a box shape. for corners i used the no miter 90 degree plastic frame corners.
i have gotten many emails about this cage.. i should have done a step by step article about it. i will have to do that next time i make one, with pictures and everything.
i believe i have seen a design you are talking about, i will find it and post again soon.
