Is this safe?

steen Jul 13, 2003 01:23 AM

Well, I'm awaiting the arrival of my first baby corn and want to have his home ready when he gets here (obviously). I have a few concerns about my enclosure, however, and any help that you can offer would be great. The lid that I bought for the 10 gallon tank is hinged, so that not all clips have to be removed to open it. I like this style a lot but just noticed that there is a gap between the two halves where the lid is hinged. It's no more than 3 mm wide and ends an inch from the sides of the tank, but from what I've been reading, corns are pretty creative in their escapes. If the split is this size and in the middle of the lid, will the corn be able to slip through it? I want to make sure that my baby is safe! Thanks guys!!!

Sorry about that, I'm still trying to figure out how to post pics (I'd say the most common problem on this forum! ) Here's a link to my tank....I can take a pic of the lid too if it would help any.

Thanks for your help!

That is by far the coolest hide I've ever seen, is that a coconut? Anyway.. I doubt it would be able to escape, but just to make sure I'd put a small bottle of whiteout on the ledge so he wudnt be able to push it up if he did get that chance.

Yes, it's half of a coconut shell with a door cut into it...I just love it and it looks really natural. I think they're fairly easy to find. From what I hear, snakes love round hides because they can curl around the edge of it. Thanks for the help!
