Well since an anaconda is not a rubber sand rosy or tree boa then I guess this would be the place to ask questions about them, too. I agree with the choice of a redtail, but that's only because I am not a fan of the anaconda's head shape. It's a pretty general question, so the most help I can give is to pick the one you like and go for it, they are both awesome animals.

From what I have heard..... Anacondas can be very hard to care for and can be very nippy/hard to please. My redtail is a sweet little angel.

one thing i would like to mention is that i would only recommend a anaconda to not only someone who has owned snakes but can work with them very well, and has little/no fear around them. Because from what I heard, read, and seen they are nippy little sh*ts to begin with, and if you are afraid to handle it, it will only get worse. I own a columbian BC and I love him so much just because of that right there. Hes SOOOO tame and yet still looks beautiful. So I vote for the red tailed boa!!!

this is the right place to ask. However, most people that post here own redtails so I'm sure you will get a 1 sided response. I do agree that redtails are easier to maintain and require less space but if the challenge is not an inconvenience for you and you can commit for the long run then get one. I have always wanted a green anaconda but have been unable to add to my collection because of the space it will eventually require. They both are awesome animals.

Also, I used to know a guy who had a few green Anacondas. His living room was more of a cage for people surrounded by the habitats for the anacondas. Floor to ceiling, around 3 to 4 feet from the outer walls and covering every available wall. Made what was left of the living room quite small.

That's funny, and I can imagine very true. I ought to build something like that someday where you walk in and your actually in a cage with snakes all around the outside.

Andiconda get real big and from my experience (I have orked with a lot of them anyways) A majority of them r not very friendly.

I had a Yellow Anaconda for about a year. It was completely
tame, never even hissed. It was a very cool snake. He seemed
smarter and more aware than a boa, and I've had a number of
boas.

He learned how to open the sliding door on a Vision which none
of my other snakes have ever done. To me, he seemed more like a dog or cat, a pet that needs more attention than just a regular
boa. He would have been a good pet if I had just one snake and
not 6.

The other thing is that keeping a water container clean
in a cage can be a lot of work, the larger the container the
more work, and the greater the stink if you don't constantly
change the water. They also seem to have a faster metabolism
than boas, that means they poop more and require more
maintenance.

These are things to consider. I prefer boas, they're easier to maintain. I know this will probably sound harsh, but after a
while I started to see yellow anacondas as ugly, plain looking
water snakes, whereas boas are always gorgeous to my eyes.
