I have FINALLY got my pair of henkeli!!!

boaluvr123 May 31, 2005 09:38 PM

hey guys, after many months of searching , i finally have my female henkeli picked out , and she should be here next week! the best part is , she is a cb adult!! I havent heard of anyone with those. My male has been producing spermaphores for quite a few months now , and im hoping for some awesome sucess with this awesome leaf tail species. These little ones rank at the top of my fav list , and i cannot wait for babies ( crosses fingers) ill have picts of the pair together next week, im hoping they are going to enjoy each others company. Any pointers on breeding? thanx guys, I kinda took a break from my leaf tail obcession , but am really getting back into it w the anticipation of getting this female. O and also , what happened to the limits on bringing in leaf tails from madagascar? did that law fall through, because EVERYONE has them on the classifieds these days.well just wanted to get a heads up , and I will be getting pictures soon. thanx

what do you mean your male has been producing spermaphores?

i know there are salamanders and whatnot that produce spermatophores, but i think that has more to do with invertebrates and amphibians than reptiles, like a lil packet of sperm. has your male been humping the cage furniture? lol! or do you mean your male has fully developed hemipenes now, i.e. "the bulge"?

my male occassionally everts his hemipenes, and they hav ea hard white solid sticking out of them. I asked a reptile specialty shop nearby and they referred to them as spermaphores , but maybe they are mistaken? i have noticed it in leos , cresteds , and beardies as well , any idea what im talking about?

ive only seen males do it after they get rejected by a female. he must be getting excited by something...who knows. as long as they tuck back away, i guess he's fine. never heard of a spermaphore before, but when i looked it up it said "the part of the ovary from which the ovules arise; the placenta."

think they may have been mistaken, honestly people at pet stores dont always know what theyre talking about.

i've heard them referred to as sperm plugs in snakes....
i've had similar experiences with male cresteds and male lineatus....

yeah i saw my male henkels do that one time, his hemipene was stickin out and he bit a white "packet" off and ate it, he was with a female but i guess he was more comfortable with himself.
