Sorry I havent been around for a few days everyone have had some major misshaps with the family!My sister-n-law was struck by a car coming home from school an its been really hectic around here the past few weeks!But she is getting better now!!!!Ok everyone knows last season was my first attempt at breeding an I had a female that slugged out on me 25 days early with 3 premies an 22 pills!Well I missed her ovulation an all an had a male in their with her the whole time minus the night before she dropped!I actually witnessed copulation with him an her quite a few times an I understand that a female can hold a males sperm,right?She didnt loose a whole lot of weight during all this an has since put back on the weight an then some,so that doesnt worry me!She eats 2 large rats every 7 days with no problem!Here latley she has been staying on her cool side but holding the heat conservation possision alot an is holding in all her meals,but still eating with no problem!I have gotten a few other opinions on this but figured I would ask the forum for theirs!It hasent even been 6 months yet is it possible that she is producing her folicles again allready an using the males sperm that she has stored?The male is in a steralite right above her an dont want to eat an has escaped once already but stayed right their on top of hers looking down at her!So my question is,Is this possible?Should I put the same male back in on her?Has anyone else ever seen this happen?She isnt bound up or anything,She is just looking very plump!Sorry for the length and any help will definaltey be appriciated!Thanks Eric[Hypoboa]

Hi Eric, I know you probably do not want to hear from someone that has as little experiance as I have, but here I go anyway. I think that you should wait and try breeding your female this fall/winter. What I would do is keep getting her ready by feeding her every week all summer long. As far as the sperm retention wouldn't she have babies without introducing a male? Anyway good luck with your breeding efforts this upcoming year.

I am not an expert on what is going on inside the boa body during each phase of the breeding process. However I have one female that I purchased as an adult that produced 17 healthy babies 4/30/04 and without thinking she may produce again I kept her with a male. Sure enough, unfortunately well under weight, there were 17 more babies 3/3/05 so she was breeding again probably about 5-6 months after giving birth. Probable, I don't think so. Possible, anything is. I say if her body weight is good you may as well try. If she is ovulating now, I doubt she will ovulate again in the later months. I hope that was helpful. Good Luck!

Iunderstand that its really hard to answer my questions without seeing her!I hope that she isnt ovulating yet,because I had other plans for her this fall!But I just got this gut instinct that she is because of the way she is doing!Tomorrow is feeding day an she is acting like she is starving,lol!What really started to lead me to these thoughts,is the fact that she is doing the same thing now that my other female done,while being gravid an thats holding in all her meals,shes not stopped up either because she is urating fine!An like I said tommorrows feeding day an shes got 3 large rats in her now that I am awaiting presents from an they are digested no lumps,I reckin Ill go ahead an give her her meal cause she wants it now,tomorrow though!Thanks again,Eric[Hypoboa]
