Nice pic, and a good idea to get your Anaconda on frozen thawed food.

Since your Anaconda is still small, why don't you try hand feeding with the camera in the other hand?

I've heard other accounts of Anacondas having mild feeding responses, but no one [but me ] has posted pix, so far as I know. We need more pix posted of Boids behavior.

If your camera has a burst mode, and you have enough light to use a fast enough shutter speed, you can get some great pix. One at a time pix can also be great, you've just got to be ready, with auto settings pre-set, then held. If you need to use flash, you can still get some great, one at a time pix.

If you're nervous about being bitten, don't try this. Snakes can be injured permanently [and permanently traumatized] by being forced to let go after a bite. Also, I do not suggest trying this with any large constrictor.

I have had some good luck with feeding pix.

Good to hear he is eating well. Sounds like a gentle feeding response seen in a few anacondas. The Mark Petros anacondas are not that kind of anaconda. With them it is a hard his followed by about 5 or more coils slamming into the other side of the cage. I do not know if you read my post about the time I fed a little rat foot to one of my yellows but it was funny. Like a little snake tick tack that I have no clue how she even ate it. Take care, nice yellow.

When i use to feed him fresh killed he was like that alot i'd just hang it infront of him and bam he snatches it and is already coiled around a few times before i could even release it from the tongs. and about the free hand feeding i'll give him a little bit longer see if his feeding responce gets stronger or if he concists to be gentil before i even try that i'm not afraid to get bit and really dont care too much it's just i'd rather not, it gets annoying i'm sure you know what i mean and if i tried to take a pic of it the flash might frighten him a little bit while he's tryin to eat. and thanks for the compliment
i got him back in december for $100 and picked him up so i didnt have to pay shipping from ben siegel

` I took my first pix of Boids eating with flash back when flashbulbs were the light source ( it sure was fun to toss red hot flash bulbs to people ). I've taken many since. I've never seen one react to the flash, although some don't like the camera itself.

he usually doesn react too much to the flash but there's the times where it does freak him out. he doesnt bite or anything but he's very jumpy and skittish about somethings.
