HELP MY KING PLS!!!! URGENT!!

kurtangle Jun 01, 2005 11:52 AM

Hello all,
I am new in this forum, I am from Hong Kong
Nice to meet u all~!!

My snake-Strip Cal King is now 3 feet long, I feed it by white mouse and it hasn't refused eating before.
In the recent 3 weeks, it stopped eating; at the beginning, it has bitten the mice; however, in the recent 1 week, it ignored the mice even put it under its nose! I am sure it is not over-feed & it has only urine but no solid things, I really think that is strange.... (Actually, I found it lost interested of everything in the recent 3 weeks; it happened after its exuviae & skin infection (as it has recovered already)

I know, it is not a big deal as my snake don't eat for 3 weeks, but I am still worry about it.

To all, do you think that it only lost interested of the food or it is sick?? Can someone help me & let me take care of my snake.

Thanks a lots!!!

If it is a male and maturing, it is possibly fasting because it wants to breed. It seems that males can go through this every breeding season. But if you are worried about it, a vet visit to a qualified, experienced in reptiles vet could set your mind at ease.

Hope this helps.

Hello sue,

It is a male. It born in 2003 i think.
Is that mean now is their mating season?

at least in the United States. I don't know if their breeding cycle changes when they are in another country/time zone/weather zone. And it would make him about 2 years old, which means that he could potentially be breeding this season.

>>at least in the United States. I don't know if their breeding cycle changes when they are in another country/time zone/weather zone.

"weather" and weather-related cycles would be more influenced by whether a location is in hte northern or southern hemisphere, since seasons are reversed in those: "our" U.S. winter is summer in Australia, for example.

But Hong Kong's at latitude 22 degrees North (Miami's about 25 degrees north so Hong Kong's a little farther south than that Florida City) and would be in the Norhtern Hemisphere and therefore on the same seasonal cycle ("our" US breeding season would be roughly the same as in Hong Kong and nearby Asian countries).

Country borders & time zones are artificial constructs so wouldn't affect peaks of breeding activity; weather, as you note, could.

Thanks for sharing~ ^^

Could you please tell me more details about their breeding? Actually I wanna know that when is the period of their breeding start??? And also, what kind of hints I can find from their behavior that they have the purpose of breeding??
