I think I have a Red Bellied Turtle?? Please Help *PICS INSIDE*

mattah320 Jun 01, 2005 01:30 PM

I work at a nature center in Arlington, VA. We received this turtle from an airport hanger in Quantico, VA. So basically it could be from anywhere in the world, but we think it could possibly be a red bellied turtle, although it's belly isn't red. Included below are a profile, belly shot (which is a little blurry, sorry), and a head shot. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks,
Matt

Your pics are not showing up. You have to host them at a picture site, or upload them to the kingsnake.com gallery.

I would say you are right. Redbelly Turtle (Pseudemys rubriventris).

Not only is it a redbelly, it looks like it was someone's pet. The bridge is slightly rounded, and except for terrapins and a handful of others, that usually means indoor living.
