I saw this posted in the classified...anyone ever heard of it? The common name was Japanese Turquoise Rat Snake...I think the scientific name may be misspelled--I couldn't find it listed anywhere...If anyone has heard of it, what are care requirements? Are they difficult to keep? Thanks for any info...

You can also search under Kunashiri Island Rat snake, Kunashir Island Rat snake, Japanese Rat snake - those are all common names. I got one last year and she's been very easy to care for, in my opinion. I keep her with a hot spot of 82 and a cool side of 74-72. She's eaten f/t mice (pinks to small hoppers at this point) from day one. Mine is a little jumpy which is what I expect from young snakes, though she hasn't attempted to bite yet.

Here's a pic on her day of arrival... they're grey/brown as juveniles and color up as they get older to more of a blue/green.
