Adding gravel to bottom?

DMBfan Jul 13, 2003 05:41 AM

I am planning to add gravel, or rather large river rocks to the bottom of the tank. Will an underwater gravel filter aid in keeping "funk" out of the bottom?

if you want to keep the "funk" out of the bottom the best .. it would probubly be best not to put any gravel on the bottom .. i have a few rocks here and there .. and im amazed by the amount of gunk that gets around them .. i dont have a filter as of yet .. so i have to clean the tank all the time .. so the easier it is to take apart, scrub, and re-assemble... but i only have a half dollar size little girl.. which since she has been on a screened in and roofed portch algea has been going rampent and driving me bonkers trying to keep her water clear .. even with tons of plants
