Lele question regarding hatching silkworm eggs..

jusmebabe Jun 01, 2005 04:41 PM

Hi Lele,
I have some panther eggs due to hatch in a few months.
I will need to learn how to breed (so to speak) silkworm months and care for the eggs til hatching.
What do I do from the point I have moths. Just want to be prepared since they will be one of the feeders for my babies.
Thanx in advance for any help or pointing out a care sheet that has the info..

They are relativley simple once you get the nhang of it, so a little experimenting before hand is a good idea. Rather than just mating, collecting eggs, keeping in fridge and then taking out to hatch you might want to hatch some out right away then feed, watch the growth rate, make mistakes , etc. so you'll be all set when the time comes.

See my article on chamnews and also check out the resources at the the end of it. If you have questions after let me know

Thanx for the link Lele. I knew I saw it somewhere but couldn't remember where.

If anyone uses chow only (I don't have access to leaves) how much powdered chow do you use for say 500 silkies from hatching to adulthood?
Thanx,
Joel
