Reduced X reduced clutch......all babies out of the egg (pictures)

JP Jun 01, 2005 05:25 PM

Here are a couple of pictures of these new babies from my reduced male bred to my reduced female. All of the babies are reduced, some more than others. I was hoping that this would prove to be a codominant appearance with a "super" form. It still could vary well be, as the odds of missing on a "super" with only for eggs are pretty good. I have a clutch from the same male bred to a normal female hatching right now as well. I'll put up some pictures and results when they all leave the egg.

Here are the babies from the reduced by reduced breeding (the one on the upper right is the nicest, I think):

Do you have pics of the parents?

Speaking from my own Banded breedings I'd say from looking at the clutch it looks like one of the banded parents is genetic and the other one isn't. Thus you producing, what appears to me, to be "het" banded. If you were to breed the "het" offspring back to the parents you should figure out which one is genetic and which one isn't as you should produce carbon copies of the original parent as well as more "hets".

More breedings will have to be done to see what you have.

Regards,
Corey

I agree with Cory as I have a reduced line that produces similar results when the male is paired with a normal female.

Currently I am waiting on a daughter bred back to dad to see what comes out.

Fun stuff!

Fact is that none of these babies are quite as nice as either parent. A couple are close. I have another clutch hatching right now from the same father, so we'll see soon if I get any reduced babies.

It's a tough call.........both look like something. The male is a little more banded than the female.

and it's great to see the results of breeding Reduced to reduced.

We are looking forward to breeding our Super Reduced female and hope she will go for us next season. Good luck with everything this season.

Your female is looking great. Thanks again for your advice when we were moving. We lost a couple of eggs from one of our clutches, but the vast majority made it just fine. Take care!

Nice clutch, I am a fan of reduced patterns, they may or may not be true "morphs", but I like them still the same. Imagine them mixed in with others such as albinos and pastels. If nothing else, they are some of the best looking "normal" balls you will ever find. I am interested to know how many people are working with them and if so what are their results. I am looking for reduced pattern females this year so in a couple of years, I will see how they work out.
