Breeding Bibrons Geckos?

reako45 Jun 01, 2005 07:48 PM

Has anyone bred Bibrons geckos? I found another female Bibrons, and after quarantining her I want to set her up w/ Minerva the female I have already. If breeding them how long do you introduce the male into their tank for? Are they diggers or egg stickers? How long is their incubation period?

Hello,

I breed this species, and it is rather easy. You can keep them in pairs or trios (1.1 or 1.2) in a ten gallon arboreal or larger cage. Pretty much all you have to do is give them an ambient temp of around 80 and a hot spot of around 95 or so. Females typically lay two eggs which they bury in the sand. Incubation takes roughly two months. I have about six eggs incubating right now and both of my females are gravid.

Hope this helps,

Do you remove the eggs and put them in an incubator or leave them to incubate in the geckos tank. If you remove the eggs do you treat them as leo eggs = ie. vermiculite, deli cup etc?

Three choices:
1) Remove the eggs and incubate on dry sand at 82-86F. They hatch in 55 days.
2) Remove the eggs and put them in a shoe box on a dark shelf. They hatch in about 70-90 days.
3) Leave them in the enclosure. The time is takes depends on the temperature. Most people report having no trouble with babies surviving in the adult enclosure as long as hiding spaces are adequate.
