Tried C's suggestion, very cloudy day with bright light, only...

i was lacking the bright light, so they're not the greatest... i tried a few different settings as far as aperature and shutter speed, they all turned out about the same save for a little difference in the amount of light reflected...

and this is what happens when you set the camera to auto...

hmmm,... bad idea! :-D

also preferring overcast days. The seem to be best to capture the animal's true colors. Nice pic and animal.

It was a little sunny later on, so I tried again. Got closer to her real color although I feel I lost out earlier in the day, she had a blue tint to her (not irridescence, a really nice blue base color)...
UNUSUALLY clean ventrals...

this is a little more like it...

perfect position for a head shot...

and I managed to mess it up by angling the camera improperly, the result being a clear pic that is underexposed

tail

aaaaaaaaand to end, a pretty decent head shot

thanks for looking and again, thanks for the compliments everyone!
