Anyone use a heating blanket to heat?

tcdrover Jun 02, 2005 09:26 AM

I've got to find a better way to heat stacks of tupperware
shoe boxes.

I was thinking of using a heating blanket propped up vertically
along the back sides. Has anyone tried this?

How are you heating racks now? Flexwatt is great!! I recommend going with Low Watt flexwatt. High temp is only around 90ish....way better than 130F like some.

Keep us updated!

I don't have a rack that's really my problem. I've just stacked
the tupperware on some plastic shelves.

Right now I'm using 2 under tank heating pads taped up to a
plastic shelf that is propped up vertically behind the
boxes, but not all of them are getting as much heat as I'd like.

It's not bad, temps range between 77 and 88 throughout the day &
night. I may buy some electrical heating tape and use that
as well. Some of the boxes don't get as much heat as others.
I'm rotating them for the time being until I come up with a
better set-up. It should be resolved (somehow) before I offer
the 1st feeding.

Never done that before, but I guess you could try it. I prefer FlexWatt myself, but I'm willing to learn new things. If you do try it, keep us posted on how it works out. Good luck.

Well, the boxes are stacked 3 high on each of 2 shelves.

I was afraid that the bottom row would get too hot, and the top
ones too cold. I'm going to try it tonight and get temps, maybe
I won't have to add any more heat, but I think I will...

I use rope lights behind some of my sterlite boxes. I like the blue, and just mount the rope so that the bottom edge of the box lies along the light. It gives off a nice even heat for the snake to warm up to when it desires. I have some red to mount soon as well.
