New to the forum, needing some help.

Hello all, just recently joined the forum and am seeking some advice. My girlfriend and I have to BP's, one male and one female (Samson and Deliela) Recently the male has developed a real pink tint to the lower third of his body, at first we suspected that this was just because he was getting ready to shed, unfortunatly it has remained now after he completed his shed and the skin looks worse than before. (the scales are wrinkled and puckered) We lost a ball six months ago to a severe infection of the skin and I am worried that this may be a similar problem. Thoughts, ideas, advice? We are going to take him to the vet to see what we can do. Thanks for any help!

what kind of substrate do you use? how is the rest of your setup? Maybe this will help us out.

It does sound like either an infection (possbily scale rot) or an irritation, what's his cage set up like? If you have a good herp vet he should be able to help you out with what you need. Are you keeping both your snakes in the same cage or are they separate? Until you see the vet to find out what it is, make sure you don't expose your healthy one to it.

We are using the exoterra fir bark. The terrarium the they were in cracked so we have them in a smaller temp while it is getting fixed. A friend of ours at the pet store says itt looks like scale rot So we will be switching to newspaper I guess. I have an appointment to get him to the vet late today or in the a.m. Solutions to fix this problem? I was advised to bump up the heat and keep neosporin on the affected area. Thanks for the help, I can't stand the the thought of losing another one!
