I have my BTS about four months now and before I had him somebody else did and before them, someone else again. He was never ill treated but wasn’t really bothered with and only fed cat food
It was a pleasure taming him and introducing all sorts of new foods into his diet and he responded well. Too well!
I only have to approach his enclosure and he’s there at the glass. As soon as I put my hand in he bites. I know he isn’t biting me more like grabbing hold of the, up til now, source of food! It hurts.
I’ve stopped hand feeding, still stroke him the best I can and let him out to wander round the room when I’m in there but I admit to a small fear of having my toes nipped.
Also, I did wonder if I was under feeding him. After all, I’ve never actually read how much to feed a lizard. At present he has a bowl of fresh and varied vegetables at all times. I give him four or five crickets in the morning and mealworms when I have them, about three snails a week and treats of different fruit a couple of times a week. I used to give him cat food to get him to eat his veg but I stopped that.
Any tips please or thoughts? Thank you.
Colleen
