Hello, I'm new to the site and actually my username is a result of what I named my new Spiny tail iguana. Unfortunately I've hit a road block of sorts, one everyone here is probably familiar with: lack of information on spiny tails. Ok here are my questions.
1. He's in a 20 gallon tank at the moment (he just hatched less than a month ago, the gentleman at the pet store recommended this to get him used to a tank, and then move him up). He is straight from the farm, the pet store had him less than 2 hours before I picked him up, and I really don't know what kind of Ctenosaura he is. All the guy at the store could tell me was he was a "mexican spiny tail" and I have no idea what that is (similis?).
2. He's in a 20 gallon at the moment but has a custom built 6' wide 4' tall 3' deep enclosure waiting for him. But the shelves in the enclosure are so high I'm afraid he may injure himself if we move him in too early. When do you think it would be appropriate?
3. Also, I started him out eating crickets (in accordance to the little info I did find) but around when should I start weening him over to vegetables?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
