Archimedes update

purduecg Jun 02, 2005 09:10 PM

Well, the lab tests came back and it appears to be bacterial, at least in part. So another sampple went off to the lab to be cultured and we are starting him on injectable Baytril. I HATE giving shots, hate hate hate hate. It was bad enough with horses, lizards are worse, lol. It will be a lot easier than trying to get him to open his mouth though, and less stressful than driving to the vet everyday, so shots it is. Wish us luck! There is no guarantee this course of action will be successful, but antobiotics seems to be the best chance.

I can understand your hatred of giving him shots, I would hate doing that to any critter or person. But if he can get well them I guess thats what has to be done.

Hang in there, we will all be pulling and Praying for your boy!

giving shots is the worst, i hated doing it too. i had just rescued helga and i had to poke her daily with a needle. i did not make it very long before i had to switch to oral meds, i am a wuss. i just put a little drop on her lip and waited for her to open and it did take a long time.
i wish you all the best of luck and i hope this does the trick for him

Best of luck - keep us posted! Poor Archie, and poor Elizabeth! You're in my thoughts.

My thoughts are with you and Archimedes. Hope this does the trick. I also hear you about the shots. My first experience was with a horse I leased. Not a great way to form a friendly bond with a new animal. After a few days she would run away from me, and who could blame her. Best of luck.
