Any suggestions?

lizgirl17 Jun 02, 2005 09:26 PM

I have some ten and twenty gallon tanks to fill. I need some lizards to fill them with. Any suggestions? I've been breeding leopard geckos for a few years now but I want something new, something more challenging. Unfortunately I don't have any room for the larger species that I want. What are some smaller guys that can fit in a smaller tank as a pair and that would make a good breeding project? Also if anyone has any info about them or some websites or other sources that I could look up I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks

Anyone who gets reptiles magazin has probably seen these litte guys. Pristurus carteri, scorpion geckos. They are so cool, and you can probably keep 2 in a ten gallon. The article is very interesting. You can keep them a lot like leopard geckos, and the good thing is, no one's heard of them, so you don't see one every dang time you go to the pet store. (IF you go to the pet store, lol). Anyways, i really want to get some of these guys in a couple years and try breeding them. YOu can search for some pictures on google. They aren't the cheapest, but i found the web site. It took forever to find, but you can get them Here

check it out! Good luck on your decision!
Most things that are going to be happy in that size tanks are geckos, since they are so small.

Well, obviously you've got all sorts of geckos to choose from. You could try anoles, smaller spiny lizards and swifts, or dwarf chameleons. Dwarf chameleons are a cool sounding option, as far as I'm concerned. Keep looking and thinking! Good luck, and I'm sure someone else has heard of something i haven't which is unusual. OH!I just thought of horned lizards. These are definitely different, more challenging lizards. They eat ants, which is the main reason they are hard to take care of. I believe its www.antsalive.com that sells ants at a good price the way i see it. So good luck in your decision!

Drawf Chameleons, I've done some research on those. They seem to be a challenge, which I am totally up for, but i can't seem to find any, well any in a price range that a college student working part time can afford that is. Funny isn't it, how all the cool stuff that sounds really interesting and fascinating is always way hella espensive and rare and like impossible to get our hands on! Ow, well. I guess I'll just have to keep looking! Thanks agian!
