I've noticed that some posts are labeled as "popular" after receiving only 3 or 4 replies while others will have 20 replies or more & still not be labeled as popular. Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's based on how many times it's clicked on to read versus how many replies in the thread.
I've been wondering that myself for awhile, and it seems that it's simply posts that the moderators picked as being of general interest to the herp community, or unusual questions/situations that aren't seen very often. I think that the mods are trying to attract attention to certain posts that are of interest. Often, on the "Popular" list on the main Kingsnake forum page, the subject line is changed to make it sound more interesting/funny/etc., then when you click to read it, you see the author's original subject line. This makes me think that the mods get to choose what's "Popular", and that the process isn't automatic (based on hits) at all.
Anyway, just my thoughts!
