I think I have a Bullfrog tadpole... can you tell?

Hi there. I was working yesterday (petsmart) and in the comet feeder fish tank was a large tadpole. It was scaring all the associates so I decided to take him home. Now, he's pretty large and has his hind legs, and overnight it looks as if his left front leg is going to come through.

I've raised Cuban Tree Frog tadpoles before, and this doesn't look like one. He's too big. About 2.5-3 inches. It might not be native to my state, Florida, because I'm unsure where we get our feeder fish from. A manager told me that she has brought home two of these tadpoles that slip in with the comets, and they live in her pond, hopping out every once in a while.

I've noticed two very distinct traits... On his hind legs, the middle toe is much longer than the rest, and curls backwards some. Also, on the top of his head/body on the sides down to his tail are two lines... like speckles in a line, outlining his sides. Ever see an eyelash crested gecko? Kind of like that...

Could you please identify my new little buddy? Thanks!

Yours is mostly likely a leopard-frog-tadpole. I had two tadpoles that were bull frog, and they were about 5 inch. I had a leo-tadpole before which was about almost 3 inch and grew to 4 inch in length.

I did about 4 hours worth of research yesterday and stumbled across a tadpole identification site... I don't think I can post the link though, it may get the message deleted... And you're right, it is a Lowland Leopard Frog, from Arizona.

The lateral ridges should have tip you off, with those the one thing it can't be is a bullfrog.
