I have this rescued boa and have cleared up all health problems except the belly rot. It does not seem to be getting better. All the scales are in tact but it looks like solid burst blood vessels under the scales. It has been a month since all else cleared up and she shed for me. Her temps are 85 on the cool and 95 on the hot. I have her on newspaper and am very careful that she is never ever on wet papers except anything that gets spilled or soiled over night but I clean first thing in the morning. Should she get some injections or can you recomend some ointment?

There are several things you can do... First off a trip to a reptile vet would always be a great place to start, but with rescues that can get very expensive. Another think to try is to "wait it out" by keeping the temps very high and dry and waiting until after a shed cycle to see if it has cleared up a little bit, then just wait again. I have heard of neosporin in helping to treat some boa infection, small ones and you could always try that. My Vet always reminds me that Boas are like little tanks. They are always stronger and healthier than we give them credit for. Which is odd from a vet who normally would like me to bring the animal in so that he can see them and charge me for the visit. My vet always says not to worry about most minor problems, just crack up the heat, feed the animal, make sure there is access to water and watch skin after a shed cycle. This is just an opinion and i do want to recommend a trip to a reptile vet and make sure that if you can you do take her in. I hope that all goes well and i hope you will not have to treat with antibiotics, but i feel that you have shown concern for the animal and wish you the best of luck in giving this animal a wonderful home!
