Sure,
I live in North Texas. You need to get a hunting license at your local WALMART or outdoor store of choice. A good texas snake hunter does not need any STINKING chaps
. Whatever you do don't tresspass as it is a quick way to catch some buckshot in the rear ...or head. Get permission to look first. I have been collecting in Texas for 15 years. You can drive the back country roads and find snakes in the evenings. You can flip tin , lumber, etc... Unless you really like them...watersnakes in texas are pointless... Sure some look nice...but they all will smeg you in a heartbeat, and bite like mad.
I take it that your primary intention is to find rattlers. If you find them...take a picture...and leave it alone. We have enough people killing them already and do not need to import help. They serve a purpose...rodent control...and subsequently plague control...
Don't spotlight from your vehicle or the game warden will get yah.... and don't collect or hunt on parklands...better yet don't even talk to someone trying to sell you snakes from parklands...
...trust me it's a setup...
Welcome to Texas!
