i have been hearing ablout breeding a female that is 2 years old and 3 1/2 foot male also mating. is this true? can someone please clarify this for me? what is the size and age of maturity? help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. thnax guyz

Okay, Yes you CAN breed at 2 years old for females, BUT most females do not have sufficient weight and length at that time to breed but never the less it has been done over and over again. Males can breed at 18 months of age, 3.5 feet is small but, im sure it can be done, Some males will breed at 18 months and some wont, it just depends on the animal. Females at 18 months have been breed but again, it takes away from the life span of the animal and it also may produce a small litter which wouldnt be worth the early breeding of the female.

Steve and I always wait until 3 years for females and 18 months for the males, Some males will breed others wont and we will just pull them and wait until later in the season to breed them.

This is just in general, but this is our opinion of waht we do regarding breeding ages of our animals. Hope this helps!
