Question for snow owners.

phiber_optikx Jun 04, 2005 02:10 AM

I was just wondering. About how big/old have your snows been before the yellow started showing up in them. (I know not all snows have yellow...)

Mine was about five when she got her "go faster" yellow flashes down both sides of her neck. As she's got older, her actual markings have coloured up a bit. At 12 years of age, her saddles are quite yellow.

I have one of her daughters and at three, she's yet to develop any colour apart from her beginner's pink and white.

Some yellowing on the sides of my snow started appearing at 1 year. It is still pretty faint but seems to be getting gradually brighter. I actually prefer him without it as I think it makes him look like he just crawled through pee! LOL..

So basically I wont notice any for several years... How old is a snow usually before you can get a good idea of their adult colors?

My snow started showing yellow at about 8 months, and as far as the adult colors I believe it varies, as does the yellow on the snow corn, I even know of some snow's that have never produced any yellow markings.

It varies with every snow corn. Some get yellow early some late some get a lot more some get a lot less. It is just an individual thing.
About the only indication as to how much yellow a snow might get would be the parents.
And even that isn't always a good indication.

Here's my yearling (2004 hatchling) female: she has quite a lot of yellow at this point, and a lot more growing to do...

Do Anery's differ in how the yellow shows, since it's the Anery gene that this comes from?

blueapplepaste Jun 06, 2005 05:00 PM

Yes, anery's do differ in their yellow much in the same way snows do.
