Fluorescent UVB bulbs

TheDrew1 Jun 04, 2005 08:32 PM

I need to place a 36" fluorescent bulb in my two new enclosures and they have to be T-12 size. The ones that would fit are the ESU reptile desert fluorescent lamp or the Reptisun 10.0 (which emitts the UVs 20". But on the site im looking at it doesnt say the size of the 36" 10.0 bulb, does any one know if it is a T-12 bulb or not? Also which bulb would be more beneficial? The light fixtures are mounted on the top of one of the inside walls of the cage which is 18" tall. Does any one have any recommendations on the type of fluorescent bulb to get?

Thanks

I use 7% Desert UV Florscn. Bulb. It's 24" in a Hood fixture that just sets on the top. I don't know anything about it being t-12 or not. I got it from reptilesupply.com, but i like their shipping rates.

Reti-sun 10.0 36 inch size bulbs are T12. Either repti-sun 5.0 or the new 10.0's are in my opinion the best fluorescents available.

Well is the percentage of UVA and UVB outputs correct for desert lizards like bearded dragons. Because it says that it is 15% UVA output but the repti glo 8.0 (which i cant get its T 8) has a 33% UVA and 8% UVB. Im just confused on which one is the most beneficial? Does anyone know the outputs of both UVA and UVB wavelengths for the reptisun 10.0 and ESU reptile desert fluorescent 7% UVB are?

Thanks

The Repti-Sun 10.0 has an output of 10% UVB and 30% UVA. ESU's is
obviously 7% UVB, not sure of the UVA output. The Repti-Sun products are far superior. The 10.0 throws out awesome uvb at twice the distance of other flourescents. The only bulbs I will ever use are Repti-Suns or Mystic!

Would a single 36" be ok for a 55g tank? I have a 36" fixture but is a dual bulb. Are there 2 bulbs that would work well together?
