need help finding captive bred rearfanggers

igordog Jun 04, 2005 10:23 PM

I'm a big fan of rear fanged snakes, but not of waild caught snakes. I've had bad luck with wild caught individuals.

Could anyone help direct me to breeders of the following snakes?

mangrove snake (bogia dendrophilia)
Giant malagasy hognose snake
False water cobra

any help would be helpful.... I feel like I've been searching forever without bearing any fruit =/

Great Lakes Serpentarium (http://www.snakemuseum.com/price.htm) currently has false water cobras (cb) on their price list. This is where I got mine. Talked to Bill personally when ordering. I was VERY happy with the entire process and would order from them again.

I'm pretty sure I've seen giant hognose in the classifieds recently. You didn't see any in "other snakes"?

CB mangrove snakes is pretty rare. Great Lakes Serp had some variety of CB boiga years ago. I have not seen any since then.

Thanks for the heads up on the serpentarium, I've looked at them before, and sent him emails without a reply.... but I suppose I'll phone him, and check it out....

Sure, I've seen plenty of Malagasy hogs in 'othersnakes', but never any captive bred.

I've asked around too..... seems like I'm not ever going to find any....

man... I guess you're right about those hogs. I really thought some of them were CB.

That's strange about e-mail. I've written Bill before and gotten a response. Things might be getting busy. When I called, I got his employees. The one I talked to didn't feel comfortable answering my questions, so he told me exactly when to call to reach Bill. It was no problem at all.
