This weekend I went on a biking trip from Seattle to Ellensburg. What I found on the way and on the way back was saddening. Not ONE living Gopher snake... all were dead. Me and my friend counted 14 dead gophersnakes, 2 gartersnakes *mountain*, 1 black bullsnake (i beleive thats what it was, i have never encountered a bull snake in WA state), and 4 dead Rattle snakes. The sad thing was that this wasnt from cars, but from people. Every one of these snakes look like they were shot on the side of the road by one person. in some cases the snakes were still alive... just twitching or stuggling. It was kind of cruel of myself. But the ones that were in really bad shape i quickly killed.

Almost all the Gophersnakes were more than 4ft long. That really made me mad cause thats the one snake I have never caught alive and healthy in WA. =(
