A little about my cyclura

Charlie_A Jun 05, 2005 11:10 AM

This is my 18 month cyclura cornuta's 75 gallon terrarium. I will transfer him to a larger enclosure soon probably outside. I have a reptisun 10.0 flourescent streching the entire length, a basking spot light that reaches about 105-110 degrees f and a full spectrum just for visual light. The bottom of the terrarium is lined with timothy hay. He also has a raised basking site. I feed him collard greens and mustard greens most of which I grow, dandelion greens, bokchoy and small amounts of kale. For veggies I offer him winter and acorn squash, home grown organic alfalfa sprouts and some other misc. veggies (carrots, stringbeans, peas etc.) As for fruits he is offered small amounts of mango, strawberry and banana. I supplement vitimin and calcium periodacally. He is 18 months old and roughly 22 inches STL.

It is taped up because he was spending all his time in there and never basking or anything. After I closed it he is friendlier, heathier and he eats a ton. If he needs to feel secure he just goes underneath the cypress log. What do you think of the terrarium?

these guys use burrows for home/sleeping in the wild. I would give him the option. that said. I think the cage is fine but will be too small soon, which is good. I like a higher basking site like 120 . Isn't the hay hard to clean? 'looking forward to pictures as he grows!

He does sleep in a burrow he made under the hay. The hay I think is much easier to clean than the paper towels I had before becuase I can just scoop up the soiled hay with the towels the feces would stick to the ground and it would become rather unsanitary quickly. I'll post some more photos as he grows and I switch his encloser.
