holdyourlight Jun 05, 2005 08:20 PM

would it be ok to put my leo in a vivarium with live plants..in the setup i have right now i have a Under Tank Heater on one side with a humid hide, but no light for heat...i thought i could use the same setup in the vivarium so i dont kill the plants with the heatlight.

Some live plants like cacti are ok but other plants, larger plants will produce too much humidity. Leopard gecko's need a very low humidty else they start to get respiratory infections which isn't something you want them to have. On the light side of things i generally tend to stay away from lights. Leopard Gecko's require belly heat to digest their food so overhead heat lights i think are not satisfactory when keeping leo's. I use a under tank heating pad or (UTH) connected with a thermostat to regulate the temperature at a stable 92f. How old is your leo by the way??? Hope this helps some.
