Pics for JP - Bandeds

Corey Woods Jun 05, 2005 09:04 PM

JP,

My line of Bandeds apear to be recessive. Banded x normal = all normal offspring (some are slightly reduced pattern/banded), Banded x het = Banded and het. I haven't done Banded x Banded yet.

Some of the "hets" seem to be slightly reduced in pattern. I've produced normal looking hets and some hets with about 5 bands on them. However, even the most "reduced" het I've produced still wouldn't be considered all that "banded" by most of the keepers on here. Although, you might be able to sell them as a banded in the classifieds..lol!

Anyways, here are some pics.

Female Banded and female het banded.

Female Banded and Het on the top, Male Banded and Het on the bottom.

The original Banded male (founding father) who is also hypermelanistic which isn't inheritable. In fact the bandeds are lighter than the hets or normals. Pictured beside the original father is a 2002 Banded male which has been bred back to his mother this season.

I haven't produced any crosses involving the Banded yet. However, I did breed my lesser male to a banded female this year but she didn't produce.

The above post should have read the following:

Banded x normal = all het offspring

Very interesting. My "final" results are in. My "reduced" by "reduced" clutch produced 4 animals, all of which have a reduced pattern (although one is not as spectacular as the other three). My Reduced by normal produced normals, and a classic jungle.

That leads me to wonder...are my male and female both "recessive reduced" like yours and I hit good odds....

or

Is my female a co-dom type of reduced and my male the recessive reduced...

The male and female both look nearly exactly alike....pure white bellies, reduced black pattern, etc....
