1st Post (Help In La.)

My name is Vince Cheney. Some may remember me as a breeder of corn snakes or as “herpstyle”. I was living in Mississippi and moved to Lafayette Louisiana about a year ago. I love it here! I don’t breed anymore and have a lot more interest in the field. I don’t have a far education or anything, just love the woods and it’s critters.

This is my first post here and hope to fit in well. I’m contacting my local wildlife offices, state parks and filling for a scientific collecting permit for this state. I’m shooting a lot of great landscapes, some including herps. I’m hoping to donate pics, slides, field notes and etc to research projects. I’m starting to help the state wildlife dept. and donating pics to a few state parks now. I’m hoping to get 24” prints of some of my photography and introduce a “Living WITH Louisiana” type awareness program soon.

In the day I rely on my job as an electronics alarm technician for a local security company to support my wife and two daughters. I also play the blues (sing, guitar and harmonica). I fit this into a small schedule. I mostly love to get in the woods and get lucky (includes observing herps). I’m hoping to log data on each subject and help others, I did that in Mississippi. Just getting connected in Louisiana.

As I start getting out and shooting pics in Louisiana, I’ll share the moments.

Vince Cheney
