Can you tell I'm new to this digital photography thing???

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 09:36 PM

So my friend comes to show me how to take better pictures. I showed him what I had...he laughs.

"No wonder they bag on your snakes. Your pictures suck!"

I ask, "What did I do wrong?"

"Looks like your editing was the problem."

"What editing?"

"Exactly!"

So he showed me a thing or two.

As we were looking at the pics I'd already taken, he says to me, "I don't know what we can do about this blue glow."

A couple seconds later, he asked, "Why are laughing?"

HE'S SHEDDING!!!! LMFAO

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 09:45 PM

Fed him today, and decided to try another pic. It's pretty obvious he's shedding in this pic, but at least you get a better idea of his color.

Sorry about the mess...he's a messy eater sometimes. I assure you it's all rat blood.

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 09:50 PM

I'm practicing at this picture thing. Once he sheds...I'll take more.

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 09:53 PM

When the shed's coming, because he still looks better than my "normals".

Whatever he turns out to be...genetic or not...he's gorgeous!

XtremeXteriors Jun 06, 2005 07:01 AM

i have 2 fems that look nothing like your average normal instead of having defined outlines and pattern its like their colors almost blend into each other like satin i have 1 that is greenish looking and the other one is more brownish chocolate see every 1 says they were normal and i agree buuuuuuuut i think if bred to a pastel and the satin like trait can be proven it could make an outstanding specimen most people cant see it in pictures but when people come to see my animals they compliment me on those particular 2, well besides my pastels. its hard to get the point across with pictures sometimes, unless its like wow i know what that is

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 10:00 PM

Here he is with my lightest-colored adult normal bp...even though he's going into shed, I think you can see why I have hopes for him.

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 10:03 PM

another one...

sparke303 Jun 05, 2005 10:06 PM

no more...the normal JUST FINISHED shedding

snakebstr Jun 06, 2005 02:25 PM

Here is a Normal that I thought was different, I got it at a local pet shop for 60.00. But anyway I tried to breed him this season and he bred but the females all threw infertile eggs except 1 egg and it will hatch in a few days. So I can only hope it looks like the daddy but I kinda figure I will get a normal baby. Hope you like him. Oh yea he is bred to a unproven burgandy female. Thanks David

look ALOT better now they have been "edited".

I know that I have NEVER had to edit any of my pics of normals or morphs.

Nice pics anyway.............

sparke303 Jun 06, 2005 03:58 PM

We increased brightness (by 4%), to correct my crummy light.

We adjusted sharpness ("low", to correct my less-than-steady hand (resting tremors).

This is the extent of the "editing" we did.

I've been told that those fancy $3000 cameras will do these things automatically...but my little $300 Nikon just doesn't have those features. My friend (a graphic designer by trade) took the time to show me the difference between "editing" and "doctoring" images. I felt really uncomfortable about touching them AT ALL, but have been assured it is necessary, and that there is an easy way to do it without changing colors or "doctoring" the photo (there's an "auto-contrast" feature on the camera's software, which pretty much does the whole thing for me).

rhacbreeder Jun 06, 2005 11:17 PM

That's a nice normal, but I still think mine look better. They have more "unusual?" colors than other normals I've seen. But I don't google ball pythons until I find a designer that almost looks like it could be the same color as my snakes. Alot of people hope that the little bp that they buy at PETCO is a designer, but let me tell you THEY ARE ALL NORMALS! I am a newbie to balls and even I know that. Here are my normals...
From PETCO

From the last show I went to, guy tried to tell me it was a "Blushing Ball"...

sparke303 Jun 07, 2005 12:58 PM

My snake's an adult, pal! And still prettier than your babies.

Blushing's a description, not a morph.

rhacbreeder Jun 09, 2005 09:08 AM

Blushing means nothing, in my opinion its not even a description. The last pic is not a baby and still looks better, your normal is pretty drab.

rwoodyer Jun 06, 2005 11:50 PM

Check it out, the most intense orange ghost you will ever see next to none other than a orange ghost pastel yellow belly

rwoodyer Jun 06, 2005 11:56 PM

Wait did I say orange ghost, I meant green ghost, and a green ghost pastel...hmmm...dammit...what the...my snake is changing colors

lol...the magic of photoshop.

rwoodyer Jun 07, 2005 12:00 AM

Just for the fun of it, here is the actual pic without modification.
