We increased brightness (by 4%), to correct my crummy light.
We adjusted sharpness ("low"
, to correct my less-than-steady hand (resting tremors).
This is the extent of the "editing" we did.
I've been told that those fancy $3000 cameras will do these things automatically...but my little $300 Nikon just doesn't have those features. My friend (a graphic designer by trade) took the time to show me the difference between "editing" and "doctoring" images. I felt really uncomfortable about touching them AT ALL, but have been assured it is necessary, and that there is an easy way to do it without changing colors or "doctoring" the photo (there's an "auto-contrast" feature on the camera's software, which pretty much does the whole thing for me).
