Shipping on a pair huge snappers

Jthmpsn Jun 05, 2005 10:31 PM

I am getting ready to offer my pair of common snapping turtles for sale. I am familiar with shipping herps but since they weigh 30 and 50 pounds I dont know the best way. Also I'm not even sure of the price. The male has a 17.5 inch carpace and the female 16 and i have had them for years but kept out side. I read on the internet that the largest common snapper recorded had an 18.5 carpace so this guy is a beast and the female is also quite impressive. Any advice would help.

Thanks
Joe THompson

hi whenever i have shipped or recieved very large snappers i put them in a rubbermaid tote plastic container.you can buy them at most stores.buy one slightly larger than your turtles.i ist put the turtle in a burlap bag put him in the plastic box with whatever packaging, foam or cushion.i drill a airhole and screw the lid down with a screw on each side.they are strong cheap and easy to use.
