looking to become a leo owner

JRO18 Jun 06, 2005 06:00 AM

I want to buy a few leos but dont want to pay an arm and a leg to get some. I want enough so i can eventually breed but i dont know where to get them at a reasonable price. I have never realy dealt with geckos mostly snakes but i have done my research. any way do you think a reptile show would be a good place to buy a few baby leos all advice is wanted and appreciated thanks

Reptile shows are a good place. Make sure that you remember the name of the breeder you get them from and get their contact information. Sometimes int he rush of the show people forget to do this and then if they have any problems or additional questions they have no way of contacting the breeder.

Buying online from a good breeder is a good idea as well.

As far as price, it depends on what morphs you want to get. If you are looking for just normals you should be able to spend 10$-30$per leo, for specialty morphs you will pay more.

Personally if you are looking to breed high quality morphs to sell on to other breeders then i would definately pay that bit extra to get a nice male and female. But if you only want to keep the Leo's as pets then you could buy yourself a normal but be warned once u buy one you will want ten! There are alot of good breeders in the US selling some amazingly beautiful Leo's and they may do you a deal, say you buy 5 leo's you could get some money knocked off that entire price of the 5 if you ask really nicely Hope this helps some

hey i dont know much about this but ive found somthing that might intest you. there is a breeder its linked of this site and they sell normal babies atlow price. they may be hi-yellow and because they are from breeding projects they are nearly all hets with some morph or another so if you got a group of them then they could do you good at breedign. you have only one problem is that they are all unsexed but you could get some nice babies if your gonan breed them.

Also, before jumping into breeding why don't you keep htem as pets first? Go ahead and get ONE nice male and ONE nice female and breed htem and hten when you get it "down pat" you can add better looking geckos to your project. A reptile show is a great place to buy leos, even some of the better looking ones are cheap. I bought a Blizzard for $35 last year at the one here in ATL.
