Lots of questions in one post

funkymonkey Jun 06, 2005 06:48 AM

Hi All,

Long time since i been on here,, but hope your as helpful as always.

Got a few questions regarding the collards that i have and also regarding some of the babies that i have bred.

Firstly Dave, My adult male, He seems to be in sleeping mode again,, doesn't come out of his hide for a few days at a time and then only stays up for 4 or 5 hours at most,, when last year he was up all day everyday.
I didn;t hibernate him as i thought he was a little thin,,,but he did sucesfully breed with Grumpy 3 times at the beginning of the year.

any ideas on why he is bahving like this and what can i do to make him a little more active,, Temps are fine,, UV tube is new,, crix are dusted which he does still eat when he gets up.

Also,, Grumpy, my adult female,, After laying 3 clutches,, the last one was duff, she also seems to be behaving the same as Dave,, could it be the same problem ???

The other 2 adults in the viv are still the same,, mad as monkeys as they always have been.

last question relates to one or two of the babies that i bred,
one female seems sto be very lazy,, not getting up out of her hide for days and when the owner does get her up,, she also seems very lazy and not as active as the others,, she also buries herself into the hide affectively blocking the entrance of it.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated as i am a little worried,

many thanks

FunkyMonkey.

worms, Sounds like you have a few acting the same way, including babies. Worms/parasites can cause lethargy.

If everything else is good, temps, suppliments, lights, then I would have a fecal done on somebody, and if thats it treat them all.

Just my thought on what MAY be going on! Hope they all get real BOUNCEY again soon!

Nice to see you back

Eve,

Can this be done on a stool sample or do i need to take the poor ickle fella's to the vets ??

Is sosmething like de worming a good thing to anyway like a dog for eg, as i remember worming them on a regular basis,,

Will still get them checked out, but just an idea ??

also while on this,,

What sort of weight are you male and female adults coming in at,, pref in grams ??

PHEve Jun 06, 2005 11:24 AM

I guess you would have to ask your Vet that question. You may be able to drop off a stool sample as that is what they will need, but I would think they would want to see atleast one collared, and check him out, then maybe they would just give you meds for all of them.

I pretty much worm any new wc's that come in. If you want to talk about that email me!

As far as weight , I have so many I hav enot been weighing. I go by site, you can usually see whos lookign fit as a fiddle and who needs some extra fat!

the last time i took my guys to the vets, ivan the girl, my fat one was 45 grams, walter was about 38, kaiser (bicintores) was skinny at 28, i am sure all those numbers have changed now but i know the vet was happy about walter and ivan's weights. they are all adults

Those weights are much higher than mine.

Dave, Lewy, and Stumpy all weighed in at 28-30 grams.
The dont look ill to me and have bred this year so cant be that ill,, but i am now very worried.

Vet's have been contacted to see what i can do asap

Will keep you posted.

well kaiser is a bicinctores, that may account for some of the weight difference on why he was thin but your lizards are not. ivan is really fat. i don't know how much gertie weighs but i think it is probably more like 33 grams. also ivan is like 3 years old, walter is 2, so that probably makes a difference too.
if their hip bones aren't sticking out then they are probably fine

Lewy is also a bicntores, but the others are normal collaris.

Apparntly though report from Mrs at home says that Dave was full of beans at lunchtime and eat everything she put in.

Even though i am going to check with a vet, do you thin it could be purely a tired thing.

Didn't sleep all winter,, then bred 3 times,,,he does look slender but not skinny,,,,

I'll take some more pics of them tonight to see if i can capture what they realistically look like.

Hope you are all well.

i have never brumated mine. but my guys eat alot. they are true piggies. if you have never had a fecal done then it cannot hurt just to make sure everything is ok. here is my fat girl, you can see how incredibly fat she is
