heres a pic of my homemade incubator, i used a hovabator heating element which had a small fan on it,i removed the wafer theromstat and installed it at the top of the fridge, a helix thermostat regulates the temps, the fan only runs when the heating element has power to it and with the helix this means the fan will run very slowly unless i open the door at which time it may come on full speed. i had glass shelves cut for it and have a large flat tray of water at the top directly under the fan, also there is a small heating pad (also wired to the helix at the bottom of the fridge where a small pan of water sits for additional heating and water evaporation. i drilled a 1/2 hole in the side (near the top) and slid a piece of 3/8 rubber tubing into and then siliconed around the edges, this tubing allows air flow out and allows me to easily slide the temp probe in. i then drilled two other holes, one mid way down and one near the bottom and in these intalled 2 pieces of aquarium airline hosing as small air inlets. my eggs are put into plastic containers with lids with small holes. i do open the fridge quite a bit (every other day or sometimes daily) and lift the lids of each container. last year i had 19 out of 20 BP eggs hatch succesfully as well as 2 JCP eggs. i would go bigger than you think you will need, a mini fridge really wont hold many eggs, in a couple years i will have totally outgrown this large fridge and am planning a small walk in incubator... always build larger so you have room to grow, "honey i need to buy more snakes since the incubator isnt full of eggs" will surely get the wife to give you no spending limits at the next reptile show, lol! hope this helps, john yocum ZOO-OTICS
