An update on petco geckos

geicogecko Jun 06, 2005 01:57 PM

I bought these two leopard geckos from petco not too long ago and they were small and skinny. The patternless is named Chibi Beans and the tangerine is named Bzz.
Is this enough carrot tail to say he has one?

Wow! They look great! I love that tang! I would call that CT but some people would say there are too many spots breaking it up to be considered CT.

That would not be considered a carrot tail due to the fact that there is no CT at the base of the tail..... In order for it to be a carrot tail, there must not be any black spotting breaking it up especially at the base....

That is a great looking leo.....

Just an FYI- I think your "patternless" is a blizzard. Also looks like he lost a bit of his tail, but he still looks really good, nice and plump. Good pair man, best of luck with them.

GreggMM Jun 06, 2005 05:18 PM

Then I think you need to brush up on your morphs befor you tell people what they have.....

astronut1885 Jun 06, 2005 05:25 PM

He looks alot like my blizzard, only with more distinct yellow on his back. My blizz has a more faded yellow. I thought patternless still had bands.

lillesspetz Jun 06, 2005 05:27 PM

I have seen blizzards and they are mostly a pale pink or grey/white with black eyes.

They has banana Blizzards but I haven't really read much on that.

But I don't know very much to say anything, should I?

GreggMM Jun 06, 2005 05:34 PM

Just to help you out a bit....
Patternless are born blotchy and as they mature, they loose just about all traces of pattern.....

Blizzards will not have that level of yellow coloration or that amount of carrot tail.....

Hope this helps you out a bit with telling the two apart....

Also, blizzards have the same color eye as all non albino leos....

astronut1885 Jun 06, 2005 05:39 PM

Yeah, I just thought he was a bright blizzard, and I barely noticed the carrot tail. I'm not a fan of that trait, so I tend to overlook it where some people go nuts over it.

AlteredMind99 Jun 06, 2005 07:22 PM

What color eyes do patternless have then?

I have a REALLY hard time telling the two apart once they are adults...hatchlings are easy, but adults are a whole nother story

Altered,
Patternless also have the same eye color as regular leos..... The only leos with eye color that differs from regular wild type eye color are albinos and the mack snows....

xelda Jun 06, 2005 08:40 PM

It's easier to look at their eyelids. Patternless have green eyelids but blizzards have blue eyelids.

Anyway, I've seen some blizzards with carrot tail like that, but that Petco leo is most definitely patternless.

The patternless is male and the tangerine is a female, btw I don't keep them in that box lol! The patternless lost it's tail way before I ever bought him and he can still move it as if it was a normal tail. I didn't know they could do that.

ed_hunter Jun 07, 2005 12:05 PM

if that pattenless has a regrown tail thats the best regrow ive ever seen. it looks like it was orrigional. was it alreayd regrown when you got it? or was it gone when you got it? also has anybody got any pics of partial regrows like halrway through regrowing

aaa

astronut1885 Jun 07, 2005 03:06 PM

looks like only the last 1/3 of it is regrown. You can see the change in the skin texture. He's still a good looking gecko. How much did you pay for them?

geicogecko Jun 07, 2005 06:38 PM

I paid 30 bucks for him and 20 for the other one. His tail looked exactly like this when I first bought him and it hasn't change since then.
