Mites, mites & mites again! HEEEEEELP!!!

ohannah Jun 06, 2005 04:37 PM

Really, guys, what is the best method of completely eliminating snake mites from collection?? I have 40 snakes and at least 13 got mites infestation. All my snakes occupy one room, but, strangely, only one “wall unit” is infected.

My big mistake, I’ve ordered snakes from one of the most reputed dealers in US and didn’t quarantine them properly due to that. Lesson learned: all snakes have to be quarantined for at least a couple of months up to a year (more serious problems) regardless of who you buy them from!

Also, please include where I can purchase mite remedies, I live outside US in United Arab Emirates. Any idea who can ship internationally?

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

You can brows below for other threads on the topic. Nothing new since.

I have no first hand experience as I've never had mites in my collection. Wish I could help more; I have no idea what is available in your country. Do you have a herp vet lined up? If getting a hold of a commercial product is taking to long, you can go to your clinic for help. A combination of ivermectin injections and spray is very, very good. (along with cage cleaning of course)
