I was wonder if the babies cna come out of the egg in a dark color. I seen light color ones but I haven't seen dark babies.
I got this one from a pet store and I hope it's ok because it's dark for a baby. I am sure it will lighten more as it shed.

How big is it? That looks more like a young juvenile than a hatchling. I know my female looked like that as she got bigger and lost her hatchling colors. Looks to me like that gecko is a tad older than you think.

Some are just darker - I think he looks awesome
Lots of spots!
This is one of my normals that looks about the same age and he's actually getting darker/more contrast with age. The photo is 100% natural lighting but he's got less yellow in real life. Some of my others have gotten lighter & brighter. It varies from gecko to gecko.

Looks between 4/5 months to me. He most likely would have been yellow & black banded with a few abberant circle patterns as a baby (like the one at the base of his tail) The bands break up into those nice spots (thus, "leopard" gecko)
Here's my normal's "baby" picture. Note how skinny his little tail is when compared to your young juvie:

I really don't know the age of my gecko. I got it at a pet store and they didn't know either! Eh oh wells. I had to get it, because it was the only one there.
It measures about 4 or 5 inches. It is always curled up so I can't measure it correctly. Plus it's a little booger, always has this high pitch squeal when I'm trying to clean the cage.
Can't really do much with it yet. Hoping it will calm down when it gets older so I can hold it.
It looks to be about 3 months old. AND yes that's normal for them to be dark, it really depends on what morph they are as to what they look like when they hatch.
