Feeding guinea pigs

CHEeeEZZZ Jun 06, 2005 08:30 PM

How come more people arent feeding burms on guinea pigs? You can get them small enough for a baby burm and big enough for two gp's to fill an adult burm for a couple weeks. And dont gp's have a better protein to fat ratio than both rats and rabbits? I just picked up some small gp's from NERD today and my burm switched over w/ no probs. w/ that said, am I missing something?

Rabbits are about the best food source. Pinky rabbits are small enough for small burms and you can get 7lb rabbits for your bigest of snakes. G pigs don't get big enough and have too much fur (well the kinds thta have a lot of fur). Oh and they are expensive. Thta is why I don't bother with them.

i feed my burm (8feet) the biggest guinea pig i can find usually like 4-5 lbs it cost me 8 dollars. but i have also heard that they do have alot of fat in them and could cause your snake to get obese faster, so i feed him once every 13 days

I've always understood they had a higher fat content. They are OK to mix things up a bit but not as the primary food source.
