Hey guys i just recently got another snapping turtle he was walking along the road he is about 3 inchs in carcace. it was a once in a life time thing because he would have never got across this road i had a baby about 2 years ago but my friends dad when he was taking care of him because i was at college and couldnt he decided to let him go in the wild dumbest idea i have ever heard of reallly pissed me off but that is beside the point. im just wondering if anyone has ever experienced a ball or some kind of excess build of skin around there neck. i dont have a picture yet but he has a little ball on his neck which i can not describe without picture yet but will post soon. another thing what is the best way to get this guy eating well he hates eating in front of me not sure if he will get used to or what. when i get the picture i will post but any ideas as of now as what this ball could be on his neck??? thanks Drew

Couldnt tell you what the lump on the neck is without a better description or pic. About the feeding... He just needs to get settled in his new home. Give him about a week and you should have no problems with feeding. Try foods such as minnows or rosies from the petstore, and slowly ease him onto pellets. I have had the best luck with Reptomin on WC's.
Good Luck,
Chris

The "ball" you are talking about. Just a guess, but, when turtles are small, they have what looks like a frog's "ball" in there neck just under the jaw, is that it?
I've kept, and released several WC snappers of all sizes. The smaller ones eat well normally the same day there cought. Try worms, always work best for me. Give them a hide, just like a snake. Plastic plant leaves work good.
