what does everyone use as substrate?

i was wondering what everyone use's? i am buildinga cage, probally for a ig and was wondering if timothy hay is a an ok substrate? i have always used newspaper as my substrate for igs and what not. but i like the way the hay looks. so let me know thnx

I use newspaper. Anything dry like that or that is particulate has the risk of it getting impacted.

Also with hay and the type of humidity iguanas require it gets moldy smelling when it gets wet... I should know.. I live in hay country Texas..

I use kitchen floor linoleum.. ir works so well. when u go to clean it.. u just clean it like a regular floor. it is very easy to clean. and also very safe as well for my iggy. I built my own iguana cage. My iguana is happy and is growing rapidly. He seems to love it in his lil habitat.
